Stop the Spread of Coronavirus
March 11, 2020
Dear friends,
I have been thinking a lot about you and my other patients.
I wanted to write this letter now amidst all the concerns surrounding the coronavirus/Covid-19 outbreak.
I wrote an article about the coronavirus last month when the news first broke, but so much has happened since then that even I sometimes have a hard time keeping up with it. I can only imagine how people outside the medical community feel. It can be really confusing. The response is extreme on both ends – some people avoiding all social interaction at all costs, some doing nothing differently at all.
Hopefully you already know this by now, but above all, my top recommendation is to do what you can to slow the spread of the virus, if not for yourself then for those at higher risk of fatality.
- Wash hands frequently
- Maintain social distancing
- Avoid touching eyes, nose, mouth
- Cover your cough/sneeze
- If you have a fever, cough, and difficulty breathing, call your doctor
You can also slow the spread by boosting your own immunity: eat cleanly, move your body, rest, be positive, and consider getting a comprehensive health profile to understand and optimize your own unique individual health.
Above all, stay calm. I have been seeing an influx of patients at the ER with difficulty breathing fearing they have Covid-19, when in many cases it is merely panic and anxiety that is causing their shortness of breath. I can understand their reason for alarm, but I also am concerned they are exposing themselves to more illness by going to a hospital full of other sick patients.
If you feel unwell, stay home. If you have a fever, cough, and difficulty breathing, contact your doctor.
Consider what you would do in the event you get sick with respiratory symptoms right now. Are you able to call your doctor? How responsive are they? How well do they know you and your individual body?
For those of you who are my established Wellness patients, rest assured that you can call on me for virtual appointments. For those of you with Wellness Memberships, these telemedicine services (call, text, virtual, urgent care) are all included in your plan.
For any of you who are not currently my wellness patients, I am happy to answer general questions you have about coronavirus, or talk to you about establishing yourself as a patient.
I am here to help you and your loved ones in any way I can. Please share the message and feel free to reach out, now and always.
To your health,
