Build Muscle, Live Longer
The Secret to Longevity: Strength Training and Emsculpt Can Transform Aging and Boost Health
Many people wonder about the secrets to longevity. While various factors contribute, maintaining muscle mass is one of the most critical. Blue Zones—regions where people live significantly longer, healthier lives—highlight four lifestyle pillars that I emphasize for aging well:
- Healthy Nutrition: Eat clean, whole foods with a rainbow of colors and avoid processed foods.
- Joy and Community: Find joy in the moment and foster meaningful connections to maintain health and happiness.
- Movement and Resilience: Engage in regular physical activity to keep your body strong and resilient.
- Rest and Recovery: Prioritize adequate sleep for repair, detoxification, and stress reduction.

How Emsculpt Can Help
As we age, our bodies naturally change. Starting at 18, collagen decreases by about 1% annually. By our 30s, muscle mass begins to decline significantly—up to 15% by age 65 and as much as 30% between 50 and 70 if not actively maintained. The good news? Strength training can slow, stop, or even reverse this decline.
One tool that I’ve found particularly effective is the Emsculpt device. Utilizing 1 Tesla of power, Emsculpt has proven to be highly effective, showing significant results in muscle growth and fat reduction:
- Muscle Mass Increase: 16% to 25% depending on the treatment area.
- Fat Reduction: Ranges from 19% to 30%.
Specific outcomes include:
- Biceps: 17.1% increase in muscle mass.
- Triceps: 10.2% muscle gain and 12.8% fat reduction.
- Calves: 14.6% muscle gain and 9.9% fat reduction.
These outcomes demonstrate Emsculpt’s effectiveness in building muscle while simultaneously reducing fat, making it a powerful tool for both body sculpting and functional strength.
Emsculpt is particularly beneficial for individuals over 65 or those who’ve noticed declines in strength or pace. Once you build a base of muscle, you won’t need to train as frequently, but you can maintain it with occasional sessions. Emsculpt can also complement your weight training regimen by reducing the risk of injury and achieving greater muscle gains than you might on your own.
Nutrition is critical. Ensure you’re consuming all essential amino acids, particularly if you follow a vegan diet. I recommend clean, plant-based, gluten-free sources to ensure you’re getting the nutrients necessary for muscle growth. Additionally, supplements that support joint health can help maintain your height, joint cushions, and overall mobility. If you’ve noticed a loss in height, it could indicate inflammation or collagen loss, which proper supplementation can address.
Lastly, post-recovery muscle building is crucial after joint surgeries. Once you’ve completed physical therapy, Emsculpt can help you regain muscle mass, restore joint function, and prevent further deterioration.
